VoltWattCurve#

class popo.standards.VoltWattCurve(start_pu=1.06, end_pu=1.1, min_power_pu=0.2, name='Volt-Watt', reference='')#

Bases: object

A piecewise-linear Volt-Watt characteristic.

Active power is unrestricted up to start_pu and is curtailed linearly to min_power_pu of rated output at end_pu, holding that floor above it. Unlike Volt-VAr it costs the customer energy, which is why the curtailment begins close to the upper statutory limit rather than at nominal.

Variables:
  • start_pu – Voltage at which curtailment begins.

  • end_pu – Voltage at which curtailment reaches its floor.

  • min_power_pu – Active power permitted at and above end_pu, per unit of rated output.

  • name – Human-readable identifier.

  • reference – The clause the settings come from.

classmethod ieee_1547_default()#

The default voltage-active power characteristic of IEEE 1547-2018.

Return type:

VoltWattCurve

active_power_pu(voltage_pu)#

Active power the curve permits at a given terminal voltage.

Parameters:

voltage_pu (ArrayLike) – Terminal voltage in per unit of nominal.

Return type:

ndarray

Returns:

Permitted active power per unit of rated output, 1.0 below start_pu and min_power_pu at or above end_pu.

Examples

>>> curve = VoltWattCurve.ieee_1547_default()
>>> float(curve.active_power_pu(1.08))
0.6
